Bike for Elephants " Tour de Chang "

Join our race for the survival of Thai elephants!
The weekend of World Animal Day (3rd and 4th October 2009) we challenge you to join our ‘Bike for Elephants’ tour in Northern Thailand. A two day adventurous and fun tour through Mae Tang valley, in Chiang Mai province.

This event will raise much needed funds for the Elephant Nature Park(http://www.elephantnaturefoundation.org/) and create awareness about the plight of Thai elephants. The Elephant Nature Park, in a beautiful mountain range north of Chiang Mai, is a safe home to rescued elephants that were previously abused and neglected.

The route: Tour de Chang (not finalized yet)
October 3rd 2009 - We will depart from Chiang Dao and then follow the river down stream to the Elephant Nature Park where we will camp on Saturday night. Here the cyclists will not only have a chance to refresh in the river while washing liberated elephants, but also to learn about natural elephant behavior and to see how their money will be spent. We will set up our tents in the Elephant Nature Park, have an early night and wake up with the sounds of elephants!

October 4th 2009, World Animal Day - After breakfast we will cycle through the mountains towards the finish in the village Sop Poeng. Transfer to Chiang Mai. Soon the route map and further details will be published on this website.

Start your own team
Join this event by starting a team with your company, sport club, school, organization, family, favorite bar or restaurant, tour company, university or any other social network. It’s a great team building event and fun and healthy way to do something good for the world!

A team needs to have 4 members, one being nominated as team leader. As a team you will receive your own page on our website to help you with online fundraising. The teams will set their own target for their fundraising efforts, but a minimum amount of 25,000 baht per team is required (more team members = higher minimum amount). You can also use our website to write updates, upload pictures and write about your sponsors. To register for this event, you need to pay for the cost of the tour (3,000 baht per person, 65 euro). This fee includes rent of a mountain bike with equipment, insurance, safety instructions, a map, a sponsor book, overnight stay in the Elephant Nature Park, transportation and all meals.
