If you’ve ever visited Bangkok then you would be forgiven for writing central Thailand off as MTB territory. However just two and a half hours outside Bangkok to a 12 mile long xc single track trail in the mountains.

Does this sound to good to be true? Well, the remote trails we use are technical and challenging for even an experienced mountain biker. They consist of steep up and downhill sections with sandy soil combined with rugged rocks and rock slab drop offs. The tracks are tough and technical but as with most good flowing single track, a less experienced rider can creep through, while more experienced riders can up the wattage and in doing so up the difficulty level.

Tam Pratoon Mountain Biking Singletrack

Single Track Tam Pratoon Chon Buri, Thailand

Tam Pratoon is almost on Bangkok's doorstep and its a great place for people living in the City to do some single track mountain biking. Tam Patoon is fairly technical with lots of ups and downs so come with lots of gears, water and determination for this hot and humid trail. There are 2 loops of trails to try and it's only a 2 hour drive on the expressway from the center of Bangkok.

Tam Pratoon is quite technical singletrack and there are some steep climbs.This is one of the few places in Thailand with proper single track for mountain biking.
The bigger trail is about 10.4km, miles and the shorter technical trail is about 4.4 km. It is possible to do the 2 together and miss part of the trail which is a total of 13.2 km.

Bangkok Twilight Dusk Outer Suburbs Trail

Bangkok outer suburbs club trail. Is best ridden on Sunday evenings. The route sets out for a ride through Bangkok and its outer suburbs. The route is focused on cycling and not sightseeing although there is plenty to see. The rides usually takes about 30km seeing Bangkoks outer suburbs. It is best to start riding at about 4 to 4.30 and leave from Pinklao. The route takes you along the sides of miles of canals over rickity old bridges, across train tracks and along a maze of paths weaving through traditional Thai houses and temples .More about this cycling route and a map!!!

Phuttamonthon single track in Bangkok

A great XC MTB training trail just outside the city.

Phuttamonthon Single Track Trail Bangkok

The trail at Phuttamonthon Park is 7 km of flat single track. Which is a great introduction to single track mountain biking and a good bit of exersize. The trail is purpose built for mountain biking and consists of a few switch backs and some small burms weaving in and out of trees. This trail is great fun and only about 30 mins drive (depending on the traffic of course) from the center of Bangkok. The park full of wild life including giant monitor lizards and terrapins.

The trail can be quite difficult to find so we have added a map below. Once you found the start point the trail is easy to follow and its marked every so often with signs showing to distance.
To find the trail go to the far end of the park (the opposite side of the entrances). There is a straight river/canal running parallel to the road the start is near the road in the trees, look for a small sign nailed to a tree showing the distance.

Bangkok MTB / Cycling Trails Thailand

Easy route takes you slow paced very easy ride on two boat trips and a bike ride. You can start from Khao san Rd. You would have to arrange for one of the long tail boat drivers to take you to the Taling Chan floating market in Bangkok. Bikes can easily be loaded on to the boats. You can then ride on your bike along some busy streets of Bangkok.The hustle and bustle then finishes as the route takes you to the quiet side of Bangkok. On the way you will experience local life, see some mysterious ancient temples and there are plenty of local restaurants beside the river to stop at for some traditional Thai food.
